FAQs

How many boxes of cake mix do I need for a bundt pan? ›

Traditional Bundt cake pans hold 12-cups of batter, which is the perfect two-cake cake mix size. Most recipes that make 10 to 12 cups of batter will fit perfectly in most bundt cake pans.

Do you glaze a Bundt cake hot or cold? ›

Cool the cake or pastries completely before glazing. Warm baked goods will make the glaze too runny, and it may soak into the crust, making the cake soggy. Brush away any loose crumbs on the cake or pastries before decorating.

How do you keep a Bundt cake from falling apart? ›

Like others have said, 10 to 15 minutes out of the oven to cool, and then flip. Sometimes for a difficult one, I've tapped the pan with a butter knife after flipping. Cool no longer than 10 minutes in the pan, set the baking rack on top and flip it with the cooling rack against the cake for support.

Is one cake mix enough for a bundt pan? ›

1. First, check your recipe size. A typical cake recipe calls for a 9" x 13" pan, two 9" rounds, three 8" rounds, or 2 dozen cupcakes. This size recipe makes about 6 cups of batter, and will fit in most Bundt pans.

How full do you fill a bundt pan with batter? ›

How much batter should go into a Bundt pan? Broadly speaking, a classic 10-cup pan should contain enough batter to reach the two-thirds mark, but should be no more than three-quarters full.

How long should you cool a Bundt cake before removing from the pan? ›

After removing from the oven, place the pan on a wire rack and let cool; your recipe will specify the required time, usually from 10-20 minutes. This allows the cake to become firm enough to remove from the pan without breaking apart. Cooling too long in the pan will cause the cake to be damp and stick to the pan.

How do you make a Bundt cake rise higher? ›

Make sure you are using fresh, high-quality baking powder. Baking powder is what helps cakes rise, and using old or stale baking powder can result in cakes that do not rise as much. Sift the dry ingredients together to ensure that the baking powder is evenly distributed throughout the batter.

How long to leave cake in bundt pan before removing? ›

Allow the Cake to Cool

Once you've cooked your bundt cake and removed it from the oven, allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then place a wire cooling rack over the base of the cake and invert the pan to release.

What temperature do you bake a Bundt cake pan? ›

Bake at 350F for 25 minutes or until the middle of the cakes are springy to the touch. Allow to cool in pan for about 10 minutes then invert onto a cooling rack to cool completely.

Do you flip a Bundt cake when it's hot? ›

Let It Cool Before Flipping

For a full size—10 to 12 cup Bundt—Dalquist recommends letting the cake cool for seven to 10 minutes. For smaller pans, such as a six cup Bundt, five minutes is plenty of time.

Can you use Pam to grease a bundt pan? ›

Rebel bakers who flout the rules should know that using Pam on nonstick bundt pans without ruining them is all about the cleanup. First, after you've sprayed your pan with Pam and poured in your cake batter, take the time to carefully wipe off every bit of the excess Pam on the edges of the bundt pan.

What causes a Bundt cake to sink in the middle? ›

Overbeating, Overmixing, or Undermixing Your Cake Batter

Too much air and your cake will collapse because it simply can't hold onto all that air.

Can I put two boxes of cake mix in a Bundt pan? ›

A box cake mix can be baked in a Bundt cake pan, but if made in the 12 cup pan the cake will turn out a bit on the short side. Two boxes of cake mix will create a taller cake. Just be sure to only fill the cake pan until it is ⅔-¾ full. If there is any leftover batter use it to make cupcakes.

Is a Bundt pan the same size as a 9x13? ›

Since Bundt cakes are thicker and deeper than layer cakes, you'll need to bake them about 30% longer (in a 10-cup capacity pan) than you would in a 9” x 13” pan, or about 15% to 20% longer in a 12-cup pan.

How many boxes of cake mix per pan? ›

One box of cake mix typically yields enough batter for 2 layers in a standard 8-inch round cake pan or 1 layer in a 9x13 inch sheet cake pan.
